It’s been almost three years since the release of Connection by Jacob Latimore. Since its release, Jacob has had fans everywhere yearning for more music.
Now the time has finally come, Connection2 the album, arrived at midnight! Thus far, Jacob Latimore released three singles for the album entitled, “Mine”, “Come Over Here”, and “Is That What You Wanna Hear”. All three singles have been well received and Connection2 highly anticipated.
Connection2 is overflowing with the true r&b sound; as the debate over what’s really r&b and who is the king of the genre has been the never ending debate in the industry recently. I think it’s important not to compare, but it’s necessary to acknowledge when you can appreciate an artist’s sound for taking it back to true r&b. No extra frills or heavy auto tune necessary. Just the artist giving you their soul and experiences through their craft. The vibe that Jacob exudes throughout the entirety of this album just feels right. No skips necessary on this album!
The influences of Usher, can be heard on tracks “Save Myself’ and “Is That What You Wanna Hear” as Jacob pays homage to Usher, who set the Blueprint for r&b music. On “Save Myself”, Jacob sampled Usher’s “Superstar” from the ‘Confessions’ album and this song just brings back a warm sense of familiarity. The song “Is That What You Wanna Hear” lyrically references Usher, as a verse reads…
“I had to usher out your feelings my way
Well, at least you live and learn
What you do ain’t my concern
Used to be my superstar
Now you gotta let it burn”
Like absolutely brilliant! All of these references!!! Salute to Jacob for this!
Last week on April 20, via Instagram Live, Jacob let his fans know just how excited he was for his album release. As well as how much work and heart he put into Connection2. Jacob went on to state that this album is “Too good for people to really understand. Too good for people to really get it.” It’s safe to say that Jacob’s true fans along with newcomers alike will be able to recognize the intentional details that Jacob included.
With the support of a steadily growing fanbase, Jacob will be taking over especially with the responses that Connection2 has garnered already since its release a couple of hours ago.
Jacob’s immense drive and talent in both the acting and music industries will surely solidify him as a future household name. His work ethic reinforces his undeniable star quality.
